LoDo Alley Cat Arts Festival

The LoDo Alley Cat Arts Festival(LACAF) is a premiere arts festival whose mission is to enrich and diversify art and culture in the city of Denver, Colorado. This festival will provide Denver metropolitan area residents, businesses and visitors a premier arts event throughout one of the most historic districts in the state of Colorado known as “LoDo”.

LACAF invites you to apply to be one of 150-200 exhibitors at our 2010 event, a national celebration of visual and cultural arts. We anticipate consumer attendance of up to 100,000 visitors over a three day weekend period, on select streets and alleys in the heart of Lower Downtown Denver's historic district, LoDo. This event will provide patrons a unique and exciting opportunity to meet artists, view works and purchase art from established and emerging artists.

Proceeds from LACAF will benefit its producer, LoDo District, Inc., which is a membership organization that supports Lower Downtown (LoDo) Denver's unique historical, cultural and retail neighborhood, through marketing, education and advocacy.

The Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Missouri announces a call to artists for a national juried watercolor exhibition, June 12 - August 8, 2010. Approximately $40,000 in cash, patron & purchase awards. Juror: Richard Martin Ash, III. Open to any artist, 18 years of age or older, living in the United States of America or its possessions. All paintings must be original works, executed since 1 January 2009, and not previously shown at the Springfield Art Museum. All work accepted for the exhibition must be ready to hang, framed and glazed with Plexiglass or similar plastic. All entries submitted must be for sale and include a 25% commission. Nonrefundable entry fee of $15 for up to two entries.

Each artist may submit up to three (3) hand made art postcards which can be mailed to the gallery's temporary post office box created just for this exhibit.
Works should be no larger than 5.5 x 8.5 inches.
Any medium is acceptable as long as it gets through the world wide postal system in tact.
All Post-Art-Cards received before or on April 1st, 2010 will be displayed at the Refuge Gallery Space on 12 N. 9th street in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The opening will take place on First Friday, April 2nd from 5 to 8 PM.

Artwork Network - "Anything But Green"


Artwork Network is now accepting artist submissions for its new online juried show entitled "Anything But Green". Artists may choose to interpret the theme any way they like. All media is accepted. Each entry will be judged by the digital representation of the piece which will be presented solely online to the public as well as a selected Jury.

In the previous show, submissions were narrowed down by public vote then the winners were chosen by the jury from the remaining entries. This time all submissions will be considered by both the jury and by public vote. Prizes will be awarded in each category.

Important dates are as follows:
Entries due: Sunday November 15th, 2009
Public Voting period: December 3rd - 29th, 2009
Notification of winners: January 6th, 2010
Winners Announced: January 8, 2010
Showcase: February 17th, 2010 - March 19th, 2010

Jury members include Ivar Zeile of Plus Gallery in Denver; Michael Keen of Gallery Cuvee, Studio 6 Coffee House and the Untitled Art Show Podcast; Jessica Bradley and Alan Kircher of Artwork Network.

Artwork will be judged by how effectively the work reflects the theme "Anything But Green", as well as artistic expression and lasting impression. First Prize for each category (jury and public vote) includes 10% of total entry fees, one year new artist membership or renewal ($619 value). Second Prize is 5% of total entry fees, a $50 Artwork Network Gift Certificate. Third Prize is a $25 Artwork Network Gift Certificate. All winners will have their winning pieces showcased in the Artwork Network Showroom in February/March 2010, which includes the popular First Friday Artwalk.

Sketchbooks offers a glimpse into an artist's life, which is why we want to make a publicly accessible library of sketchbooks that people can browse, peruse, and check out. We think that this sketchbook collection has the potential to open a new line of communication between the artist and the viewer, since the experience of making and viewing are both so personal. Anyone can sign up to receive a sketchbook. Before joining our permanent collection, sketchbooks will be exhibited at select galleries across the US.

The event is held on September 26, 2009 at Denver Urban Homesteading, a very cool new business located at 200 Santa Fe. Any artist who donates a piece (or two) of art is welcome to be a guest at the event. The Urban Farm encourages all of the artists to come and meet the folks and share their vision for their art.

Tickets will be available for people to partake in a Wine Reception and Art Lottery. Each ticket will sell for $150 and allow participants to own a piece of your work. Art for Ransom is a collaborative show, event, and fundraiser organized by and benefiting Arts Street and RedLine, two community focused arts nonprofits. The event will be part happening, part installation, part exhibit.

During times of limited funding from grants and philanthropy, Art for Ransom is asking the community, "Where would we be without access to art?" We are asking artists, "What would YOUR art be without access to community?"

Art for Ransom will ransom access to areas of the RedLine exhibit space, progressively revealing the work of area artists ranging from young students to noteworthy professionals. We are asking artists and patrons from the community to come together and combine micro-donations with magnanimous gestures to reveal the collective work we all need to support!

La Piazza: Chalk Art on Larimer Square

La Piazza, Larimer Square's Italian street-painting festival, is a two day-street closing-pavement painting-event on Larimer Square. More than 200 artists come down to turn the streets of Larimer Square into a museum of chalk art. Artists, sponsors and spectators find it difficult to describe in words the splendid experience that La Piazza creates. Enjoy Italian food including hand-made gelato. Beer, specialty drinks, and soda will compliment the visual feast. Is Italian wine your thing? Visit the wine-tasting tent and taste different wines from around Italy!
