artist statement: As long as I can remember, the uncertainties of reality have troubled me. These existential struggles eventually developed into a fixation with the nature of time and death. Through my artwork, I deal with these matters and the accompanying insecurities and anxieties. My images use subtle manipulations, frame-to-frame relationships, and an abstract sense of narrative to explore the issues of perception, memory, existence, and mortality. My work questions the nature of photographs and challenges the traditional definition of photography. about the artist: Greg Sand is an artist and photographer who explores the issues of existence, time, and death. He works primarily with digital photography to produce work that addresses the nature of photography and its role in defining reality. Sand received his BFA in Photography from Austin Peay State University in 2008. He has won the acclaim of both jurors and audiences, winning numerous awards and honors.
