This print was part of the exhibition "Modern Uses of Alternative Processes", at Redline during the Denver Month of Photography in 2011. It was also one of the photographs selected for the 2012 Cherry Creek Art Festival.
The original is a tintype, which is a photograph produced with the antiquated wet-plate collodion technique. The artifacts that are seen on the photographs come from the process itself, from the reactions between chemicals or from the photographer's hand gestures while processing the image. Producing a tintype is a time consuming endeavor and an enterprise where the photographer is physically involved in each step of the creation.
