Artist Statement

Abstraction has me firmly in its grip.

I start out having a conversation with the canvas, but it soon makes its own decisions based on prior marks and layers, and seems to take on its own visceral energy. I let it happen. I work in conjunction with what the painting is wanting. I let the painting have its own life.
